Adelaide midfielder Matt Crouch says he is keen to line up alongside two new recruits in the midfield this season.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Crouch said the prospect of playing a key role on-ball with former GWS pair James Peatling and Isaac Cumming had him itching for the Crows’ campaign to begin.

“It’s (the midfield) looking good. JP from GWS and Isaac Cumming as well, coming across, those boys have looked really sharp and brought good depth through that midfield.

“That mix will take place in the next few weeks with our internal trial and some praccy games, which is exciting.

“(Peatling) can turn around the ball really well, he’s got great energy and quick feet, watching his back end with GWS last year, he was playing some really good footy, so I’m excited to see what he can do.

“I am looking forward to hopefully complementing some of those other guys I’ve spoken about in the midfield and it’s exciting to see where the footy Club is at.”

Crouch lined up in 15 games last season and averaged 29.9 disposals, as well as 5.3 tackles, despite missing eight matches in the middle of the year due to a shoulder injury.

The 29-year-old said fellow midfielder Jake Soligo, as well as forwards Riley Thilthorpe and Josh Rachele had improved after enjoying solid pre-seasons.

“Riley Thilthorpe is the obvious one - you kick the ball to him and he marks it most of the time, so he’s one that’s really stood out,” Crouch said.

“The position he (Thilthorpe) plays, he is very important, he straightens us up a fair bit. As a teammate and as a footy Club, we are just excited to see what he can do when he gets a full run at it.

“Josh Rachele has had a really good pre-season, Jake Soligo -  they’re probably some of the names who you’ll see play a really good year and be consistent.”

He also said draftee Sid Draper had caught his eye with how hard he was working, ahead of his first season as a Crow.

“Obviously being a high draft pick, there’s a fair bit of expectation on him (Draper), but internally we’ve been really impressed with how he’s gone about it,” Crouch said.

“He’s got some real weapons in terms of his speed, the way he plays, so it’s very exciting.

“For an 18-year-old kid, he’s in really good shape, obviously having a few injuries last year in his draft year had been a challenge for him, but so far his body has held up really well and he’s moving really well.”

The Crows’ preparation for the 2025 AFL campaign will continue with an internal trial in Port Pirie next week.

They will then line up in pre-season games against Port Adelaide (February 21) and Brisbane (February 27).

The Crows’ 2025 season kicks off with a clash against St Kilda at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, March 16.
