Adelaide assistant coach Don Pyke has declined St Kilda’s request to be an applicant for its vacant senior coach role.

Pyke, the former West Coast star who has been with the Crows for two years, was approached earlier this week by management representing the St Kilda Football Club.

“At the moment I have declined to be an applicant,” Pyke said.

Pyke said he was focused on Adelaide’s finals campaign and did not think the timing was right for him to chase a senior position.

He has other opportunities outside of football but may still remain with Adelaide in 2007. “I’m working through that with the Crows,” Pyke said.
