Crow Brett Burton has played down his bystander role during a chaotic chain of car accidents in Fulham Gardens.

Burton was one of many people on the scene when a man crashed his car into four different houses on Thursday evening.

The Adelaide forward was at home when he heard a “massive bang”.

“I ran outside and there was another huge bang,” Burton said. “It was like a movie … there was this car with a pile of bricks in his back window. It had driven into a neighbour’s garage and pushed their car through a wall – and then he chucked it into reverse and went straight across the road and did the same thing to the house on the other side.

“But then he’s taken off again and driven down the street. I thought it was a young hoon so I tried to get the number plate and then followed him down the street. But the car had driven into the front porch of another house, went into reverse again and crashed into another house and stopped.

“Once I got to the car window and saw it was an elderly bloke it was pretty obvious he wasn’t going any further. Someone else on the scene took out the car keys and called an ambulance, so I’m definitely no hero.

“It was an unfortunate incident - and fortunately no one was seriously hurt.”
