The Adelaide Crows will not be upset if former ruckman Matthew Clarke nominates for the AFL’s pre-season draft.Clarke, who has been linked with St Kilda in media reports, retired at the end of the 2006 season. But Crows chief executive officer Steven Trigg said Clarke’s situation was completely different to that of former Brisbane defender Mal Michael, who was released from his contract and then agreed to play for Essendon.“Matthew retired from football with us, we accepted that and now, having retired and being out of contract, if he wants to come back that’s his prerogative,” Trigg said. “There would be no ill-feeling from our end. In fact, we would wish him all the best.”Clarke played 248 games in a career that started back in 1993 with Brisbane where he played 130 games and took out that club's best-and-fairest award in 1997.The former Mount Gambier native returned to his home state when Adelaide traded draft pick number six to the Lions at the end of 1999.
