World Champion BMX racer Sam Willoughby is ready for his crack at a Gold Medal in London.

The Crows Ambassador, who was born the year Adelaide entered the AFL (1991), will race tonight in the men’s time trial (seeding) from about 11.30pm SA time.

The quarter-finals are 24 hours later and then the final will be held at 1.10am (SA time) on Saturday morning.

Willoughby says he still dreams of running out at AAMI Stadium to play for the Crows. "At times I wonder what might have been. I still miss footy today," he recently told The Australian newspaper.

"But for me the choice was based around BMX being an individual sport. I found some people not taking footy as seriously as I wanted to take it.

"I chose BMX because I felt I could do something with it."
