EMERGING Adelaide midfielder Rory Sloane looks set to remain at the club, after giving the best indication yet he will re-sign with the Crows.
With so much attention focused on the futures of Kurt Tippett and Patrick Dangerfield, Sloane's signature had been, at least from the outside, overlooked to a certain extent.
But he has blossomed into one of Adelaide's key players in 2012 and, while he hasn't signed yet, Sloane suggested his future lay with the Crows.
"We're (Sloane and Dangerfield) both loyal people, we're both enjoying our footy over here at the moment and I know we both love the way Brenton (Sanderson) is handling things," he said.
"It's a great feeling around the club and it's something that would be great to be involved in over the next couple of years.
"Hopefully we'll have something finalised soon."
Sloane's impressive rise of form this season has helped Adelaide to its best ever start to a season and he has featured prominently in every one of the club's wins.
He currently averages almost 24 possessions a game - a career-high figure that he puts down to an injury-free start to 2012.
"The last three years I've had an injury in the first six rounds ... so being able to string a few games together has definitely helped," he said.
"Coming straight off a good pre-season as well, I barely missed a session pre-season and I think that's very important just to stay fit and healthy and get good run through in the legs."
Sloane and the Crows face yet another huge ask this weekend when they face Collingwood at AAMI Stadium; a side they haven't beaten for more than three years.
After ending their 15-game losing streak in Victoria at the weekend, Sloane said the hoodoo against Collingwood - which stretches back to round one, 2009, when the Crows beat the Magpies by four points - could help drive his team on Saturday night.
"Collingwood have won a couple of big games against us," he said.
"They've had the wood on us the last couple of years, they match up really well against us.
"They're going to come over here fired up I'd imagine and, after a good win over Geelong last week, they're going to be itching to beat us again."
Despite Adelaide's stunning 7-1 start to the season, Sloane maintained it was still too early to talk finals, describing his side as a "blue collar" unit.
"We're a team that's seen to be a bit blue collar, just going about it and producing some good wins," he said.
"We're letting our footy show what we're on about this year.
"We're definitely playing a lot more consistent footy this year and putting whole games together which is the most pleasing thing."
