The other finals clash between the two sides was an Elimination Final in 1998 when Lance Franklin kicked a goal in the dying stages to snatch a three-point victory for his team.

23 - Finals former skipper Simon Goodwin played in - the most of any player in Adelaide’s history. Tyson Edwards and Andrew McLeod each played in 22.

24 - Finals Brenton Sanderson has been involved with as either a coach or player, including two premierships as an assistant coach at Geelong (he left the Club to assume the Crows senior coaching position prior to the Cats’ 2011 Preliminary and Grand Final wins). Sanderson’s last final as a player was against Sydney in 2005 when a goal to Swan Nick Davis in the dying stages denied Geelong a Preliminary Final berth, and put a heartbreaking end to Sanderson’s career.
