Adelaide forward Tyson Stengle is pushing for an immediate senior recall following another solid performance in a reserves scratch match against Fremantle on Sunday afternoon.
The 21-year-old booted two goals against the Dockers, backing up his strong outing against Brisbane a week prior.
Stengle is available for AFL selection in Round Six having completed his four-match Club-imposed suspension for drink driving.
“Tyson Stengle looked a class above at times,” development coach Matthew Wright told AFC Media post-game.
“He’s one that’s definitely putting his hand up.”
Versatile teenager Josh Worrell impressed against Fremantle, assuming additional responsibility in the back half after Kyle Hartigan’s promotion to the AFL team.
“Joshy Worrell was fantastic down back,” Wright said.
“He played forward last week out of necessity, but to go back this week and get it done for four quarters was terrific.”
Andrew McPherson also excelled in defence playing against experienced small forward Brandon Matera, with his game described as “terrific”.
“He’s probably been our most consistent over the last three games, and he keeps backing it up,” Wright said.
“He defends one-on-one, is hard to beat but he also provides good counter-attack for us.”
Wright also praised the leadership and voice provided by the senior players in the side.
“I thought Knighta [Riley Knight] was outstanding after a fair lay off,” he said.
“Gibba [Bryce Gibbs] playing through the midfield, and Butch [David Mackay] across wings, half back gave us a little bit of punch on the counter-attack.
“Strachanie [Kieran Strachan] went up against another good ruckman so we’re exposing them all to AFL players and they played pretty well.”
Of the other young Crows who took the field, Wright was complimentary of the inside work of Harry Schoenberg and Ronin O’Connor, the composure and flexibility of Lachlan Sholl and the development of Lachlan Gollant, particularly his defensive pressure inside forward 50.
