All 47 players on Adelaide’s list took part in the Club’s main training session ahead of the opening round of NAB Cup matches at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.

Only four players, Jared Petrenko, Bernie Vince, Sam Shaw and Nick Joyce, are unavailable for selection against St Kilda and Port Adelaide because of injury.

Petrenko had reconstructive surgery on his right shoulder in October, while Vince had a 57-millimetre cyst removed from his shoulder blade in November.

Physical Performance Manager Nick Poulos said the pair was nearing a return.

“We’re taking a conservative approach with both Jared and Bernie,” Poulos said.

“Bernie potentially could play this week. Jared is still ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation, but he isn’t quite ready to play yet.”

Shaw (knee soreness) and Joyce (groin) completed part of Thursday’s main session.

“Shawy and Joycey will be managed for the next couple of weeks,” Poulos said.

“They’re progressing really well in their rehabilitation. It’s hard to put exact time frames on their return because they’ll have to complete a week or two of full training before they can play.

“They’re not far off that, so hopefully we can have them back later in the NAB Cup.”

Richard Tambling missed last week’s intra-club trial because of back soreness, but is on track to play on Sunday. Adelaide will take on St Kilda in the first match at 4:10pm, and return to the field to play Port Adelaide at 6:20pm.
