Patrick Dangerfield has been rewarded for a brilliant individual display against Richmond, sharing best afield honours in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.
Coaches Brenton Sanderson and Damien Hardwick couldn’t split Dangerfield and Tigers duo Brett Deledio and Dustin Martin in the voting, with each receiving eight votes.
The only Crow to receive votes in Adelaide’s 38-point loss, Dangerfield was instrumental at the MCG on Saturday. The 2012 All Australian amassed 28 possessions, seven clearances, six inside 50ms and four tackles and also topped his team’s scoring, kicking 2.4 in a dual midfield/forward role.
Dangerfield is now level with Sydney co-captain Kieran Jack in third place (50 votes) on the overall leaderboard. Gold Coast skipper Gary Ablett (73 votes) maintains a handy lead ahead of in-form Swan Dan Hannebery (54 votes). Crow Rory Sloane is 10th on 35 votes.
Deledio, who generated plenty of run from half-back, and four-goal hero Martin starred for the Tigers. Bachar Houli (four votes), Brandon Ellis (one vote) and Chris Newman (one vote) were the other players to receive recognition from the coaches.
