WESTCoast veteran Andrew Embley has apologised to football supporters for droppinghis knees into Ben Stratton's chest on Friday night, saying there was "noexcuse" for his actions.
Embleyhas accepted a one-match suspension from the Match Review Panel over theincident, which happened during the second quarter of the Eagles' 20-point lossto Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium.
"I'mvery disappointed in myself for what happened on Friday night," Embleytold westcoasteagles.com.au.
"I'mvery apologetic towards Ben Stratton, and also to footy supporters in general.
"It'sout of character for me, it's not what I'm about, and it's not what people wantto see when they go to the football.
"I'vealways been the kind of person to front up to my mistakes; I made a blue, andI'll cop my penalty on the chin."
The31-year-old dropped onto Stratton when the Hawks defender held his arm as hetried to get up after being tackled.
Hethen attempted to push Stratton's head into the ground.
"Ithappened very quickly," he said.
"Inthe end it was just a bad reaction to just trying to get up and get on with thegame.
"Insaying that, what I did was wrong, and I acknowledge that.
"There'sno excuse for what I did."
Embley,who has played 245 games for West Coast in a career spanning 15 seasons, maintainedhe was a fair player.
"I'veplayed almost 250-odd games, and I do consider myself a fair player," hesaid.
"Attimes you can do silly things, which I've done in this circumstance, and I'vejust to make sure that something like this never happens again."
Strattonwas fortunate to escape unhurt from the incident, and on Friday night told AFL.com.au he saw it as "a bit offun".
"It was all good,"he said.
"It revved me up andgot me in the game.
"I think we scored agoal after that, so I went over and thanked him."
Embleywill have to sit out Thursday night's important clash with Essendon atPatersons Stadium.
