The Adelaide Football Club has made the difficult decision to delist two players.
Jared Petrenko and Lewis Johnston have been told they will not be offered new contracts.
Petrenko, 24, played 76 games after starting his career as a rookie in 2008.
The fierce-tackling small forward, who endured battles with injury, played 23 matches in a breakout 2012 season. Petrenko was also part of the 2012 pre-season premiership side. He kicked the match-winning goal in Adelaide’s remarkable come-from-behind win over North Melbourne in Indigenous Round last year. Petrenko, who missed a chunk of the season with stress fractures in his leg, was limited to five matches in 2014.
Johnston, 23, played 10 AFL games, including two for the Sydney Swans, where he started his career.
Originally selected by the Swans with pick No.12 in the 2008 National Draft, the long-kicking forward was traded to Adelaide ahead of the 2012 season. He broke into the Crows team towards the end of 2013, playing the last five games. He missed three months of this season after having surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his hand. Johnston is in the history books as the last Crows player to kick a goal in an AFL game at AAMI Stadium, and first Crow to kick a goal at the new Adelaide Oval.
Crows Head of Football David Noble thanked them both for their hard work and commitment.
“This is a very difficult time of year and it is never easy to see good people leave the Club,” Noble said.
“Jared has always been committed to the team, and his infectious personality and willingness to improve made him very popular. Lewis has not been able to cement a regular position in the team, and injuries have restricted his ability train and develop as a player.”
The Club has also farewelled Development Manager Peter Jonas.
“Peter is a quality person and his contribution to our organisation over a long period of time has been outstanding,” Noble said.
“We appreciate everything he has done for the Adelaide Football Club and wish him the best of luck in the future.”
Adelaide has now made a total of six changes to its playing list. Veterans Ben Rutten and Jason Porplyzia have retired, while ruck duo Shaun McKernan and Angus Graham were delisted last month.
Rookie Charlie Cameron will be elevated to the senior list for Season 2015.
