Port Adelaide won’t know until Thursday whether Robbie Gray will be fit to play in Sunday’s Showdown XXXVIII against the Crows.
Gray was withdrawn from the Power’s Round Four clash with Hawthorn due to a calf injury. Although the setback is not believed to be serious, Port Adelaide’s Head of High Performance Darren Burgess said the club wouldn’t make a call on the 27-year-old until later in the week.
“He’ll be assessed this week, he just needs to get through training,” Burgess told the Power’s website.
“He’s pain free today, which is obviously a very good sign, but we won’t run him until Thursday, so we won’t know until then.”
Port Adelaide reported no new injuries from the club’s eight-point win over the Hawks. Jared Polec, however, was subbed out of the match as he continues to work through a lingering ankle complaint.
The club expects Polec will take his place at Adelaide Oval on Sunday afternoon.
“He’s got some ongoing ankle issues that we’re managing, so it’s just best for him early in the week in the first couple of days after the game to be off his legs,” Burgess said.
“He ran during the main training last week, so he was on his feet for our main training session.”
Ollie Wines (wrist) and Jarman Impey (hamstring) have already been ruled out of Sunday’s clash with the Crows, while utility Paul Stewart is expected to play in the SANFL this weekend after suffering a concussion against Norwood on Friday night.
Untried duo Billy Frampton (shins) and Dougal Howard (lower leg) round out the Power’s injury list.
