Esteemed football journalist Mike Sheahan has named Patrick Dangerfield and Rory Sloane in his ‘Top 50’ ahead of Season 2014.

Adelaide’s joint vice-captains were the only Crows to feature in Sheahan’s annual assessment of the AFL’s elite, which never fails to generate discussion in the football community.

Dangerfield was ranked the third most valuable player in the competition behind 2013 Brownlow Medallist Gary Ablett and Geelong captain Joel Selwood. Dangerfield, 23, was ranked 12th in Sheahan’s list the previous year, but has rocketed inside the top 10 on the back of a second-consecutive All-Australian year.

Surprisingly, Sloane – ranked at No.23 at the start of 2013 – slipped to No.31 despite a stellar season which culminated in him being named the Crows Club Champion last year. Richard Douglas was an unlucky omission from this year’s count, missing out after holding No.46 last season.

Young Crow midfielder Brad Crouch placed second in Sheahan’s ‘Rising Stars’ list, with 2013 NAB Rising Star award winner Jaeger O’Meara ranked No.1.
