The Crows were in Rundle Mall on Friday participating in a friendly cook off to see who would be crowned the best chef at West Lakes.

Following Kurt Tippett and Brent Reilly’s appearance (cooking) on Better Homes & Gardens, a group of players took to the mall to promote our cookbook Crows Kitchen - No Rules.

Andy Otten, Jared Petrenko, Ben Dowdell and Jason Porplyzia cooked off against each other with a mixture of easy pasta, curry and dessert dishes - all recipes found in the cookbook.

The 84-page cookbook features over 55 recipes from Crows players and coaches all captured in beautiful still photography by legendary sports photographer Ray Titus.

All proceeds from the cookbook go to the Crows Foundation helping SA children in need.  Since May 2005 the Crows Foundation has raised and donated more than $600,000 to a wide range of SA charities.

A special judging panel consisting of FIVEaa competition winner Jack Cavanagh, Adelaide Football Club’s Sam Kerridge, Paul Harrison and Rundle Mall General Manager Martin Haese tasted and scored the dishes.

MC for the day, Tom Rehn finally announced the winning dish as team Petrenko/Dowdell’s chocolate marshmallow balls in a close race.

The cooking activities were followed by a football clinic with Sam Shaw, Ben Dowdell and James Craig assisting kids in some footy fun to end their school holidays.

The cook off also gave us an opportunity to catch up with Colleen and James McKaye who won our Uniquely Rundle Mall ‘Win a Trip with the Team’ competition earlier this year.

The mother and son were treated to an interstate trip to Melbourne on the team flight, a stay in the Club hotel and tickets to watch the team take on North Melbourne thanks to AFC and Rundle Mall.
