Bock and Knights solid in SANFL
Nathan Bock and Chris Knights both had solid games in the SANFL on the weekend.
In the Eagles’ win over South Adelaide, Knights had 28 disposals in just under three quarters before receiving a knock to the chest. He covered a lot of ground and was solid around the stoppages.
Bock had 21 disposals and six marks, used the ball well and took some strong marks in defence. Rookie Luke Thompson had a strong game in defence for the Eagles and finished with 15 possessions and three marks.
For the Panthers, Shaun McKernan played in the ruck and up forward. He had 20 hitouts, and finished with 13 possessions and a goal in a solid game. Myke Cook played in a variety of positions and finished with 14 disposals and tried hard all day.
Tony Armstrong was named North Adelaide’s best despite the Roosters going down to Sturt. Armstrong played mostly on a wing and had 20 possessions with his skills at a good standard.
Rookie Matthew Wright played on the ball and had 14 possessions and five marks and his contested ball was a feature.
For the Double Blues, Brodie Martin mostly as a defender and the last quarter on a wing, where he collected 12 of his 24 possessions. He finished with 10 marks and his running game is improving every week. Rookie Aidan Riley played in defence and was very accountable on his opponent, and finished with 16 possessions and eight marks.
James Sellar was among Glenelg’s best in their win over Port Magpies. He played up forward and in the ruck, had 15 hitouts, kicked two goals and finished with 14 possessions.
Jack Gunston contributed well to Central District’s win over Norwood. Despite only getting six possessions, he kicked an important goal late in the game and performed well in defence, limiting his opponents influence on the game.
For the Redlegs, Will Young had another solid performance in his second game back from injury. He collected 17 possessions in defence and his decision making was good all day.
In the SANFL reserves Jarrhan Jacky played as a small defender for the Eagles and started the game very well. He finished with 23 disposals but was quieter in the second half.
