Nick Poulos has been promoted to Physical Performance Manager with the Adelaide Football Club.

Poulos, who has worked with the Crows for the past year as Strength and Conditioning Coach, replaces Stephen Schwerdt in the role.

Crows football operations general manager Phil Harper said: “We had an excellent field of quality applicants but we believe Nick was at least the equal of them all, when it came to our needs. It is obviously great that he’s already on the ground here, so it’s nice to be able to promote from within.

“Nick had an immediate impact on arriving here with his strength and speed work and is very popular amongst all our players, who are delighted with his appointment.
“There will now be a slight reshuffle in the physical performance area and we will be adding another role at some stage in the next few weeks.”

Poulos was last year recruited to the Crows from the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence in Doha, where he was a strength and conditioning coach. He was also involved with Qatar Rugby Union and the Doha Rugby Club.

He has been a consultant for the New Zealand Sports Academy for Rugby and the Brazilian national track and field sprint squad.

Prior to moving to Doha in 2008, the Ph.D scholar spent three years in Japan with Toyota Rugby, a club in Japan’s Top League.

Whilst in Japan, he also acted as a consultant with the Chukyo University Track and Field team and worked with Tonga in the 2003 Rugby World Cup.
