Crows forward Tom Lynch confesses he is “learning a few things about Year Two” as he and his family adjust to life at home during the coronavirus shutdown.
The 29-year-old told reporters that looking after his three children, all between the ages of seven and one, is a much harder task than the grind of football training.
Alongside his wife, Lynch has been home-schooling their eldest son Kobe but fortunately, there is one tool helping him answer the many curious questions from his second-grader.
“I’m thankful for Google, I’ve got some answers for my lad,” Lynch said.
As for whether a career in teaching beckons post-football, Lynch was quick to dispel those notions.
“I’m already thinking about long-service leave to be brutally honest,” he joked.
While there are only a handful of players in a similar situation, many of Adelaide’s coaches are in the same boat.
Lynch said he is receiving plenty of support from Crows coaching staff, as well as close friends and relatives, as they look for ways to keep their kids occupied.

“I’m loving seeing the help I get,” Lynch said.
“We certainly are keeping in touch together with some things to keep the kids occupied, but friends and family are doing the same as well.
“I get text messages off the majority of the coaches every week telling me new activities to do with the kids so we’re certainly lucky in that regard.”
It is far from doom and gloom during these challenging times for Lynch and his family.
The 140-game forward is also maintaining his training standards, refusing to take the foot off the pedal despite the uncertainty of what lies ahead.
“We’re doing really well at home; we’re having a ball,” Lynch said.
“The kids have been fantastic, but the training as well has been pretty solid.
“With the uncertainty of when the return will be, we have to keep the training right up there and the guys have been doing really well with that so far... it’s really pleasing.”
