Crows midfielder Ebony Marinoff has praised the Club’s fans for their continued support in a “disappointing year”.
On Wednesday night, the AFL announced plans to conclude the regular season and commence finals - with the top four teams from each conference competing.
With Adelaide sitting sixth on the Conference A ladder at the end of Round Six, the reigning premiers had an early exit from the 2020 AFLW competition.
Marinoff said the AFLW group was disappointed they were unable to finish the season on a positive note.
“It hurt yesterday when we found out that the finals series was getting extended to an eight-team series,” Marinoff said.
“That stung a little bit because we didn’t make it happen for ourselves... if we had won on the weekend against GWS we’d have kept playing.
“It was a disappointing year, but we have to learn from it and be ready to go for 2021.”
Despite the difficult season, the 22-year-old said there were positives that will hold the squad in good stead for 2021.
“The biggest positive from this season is that we got games into our younger girls and they were exposed to the level in different positions,” Marinoff said.
“Each draftee showed glimpses of what they can do and that they belong at the level.
“Along with that, it’s exciting to think that we’ll have Erin Phillips fit and healthy next year, we’ll have Chelsea Randall back from her ACL with 12 months of rehab behind her, as well as Chloe Scheer and Hannah Button coming back in.
“That’s what we are looking forward to, it will be exciting to see what we’ll produce next year.”
When reflecting on the 2020 season, Marinoff thanked the fans for their support during a bumpy period and hoped they would continue to stick with the team.
“We bloody missed the fans on Sunday, they rode all the ups and downs with us,” she said.
“We always get so many fans to our games and some fans that even travel across the country to watch us play.
“We wouldn’t be a Club without our fans.”
