Adelaide has named its team of 22 for Saturday’s home season opener against Sydney. 

Fischer McAsey, 19, will play his first AFL game with his debut announced earlier on Thursday afternoon.

Crows Head of Football Adam Kelly said it was a significant achievement for McAsey to be making his debut.

“It is always exciting to see a player make his AFL debut and we are delighted that Fischer gets his chance in Round One," Kelly said.

"There are not too many key position players who debut in the opening round of their first season. 

"Since he walked through the doors at the Club, he has impressed with his maturity, composure, appetite to learn as well as his obvious talent."

Off-season recruit Billy Frampton has been given the nod to make his Club debut as back-up to Reilly O’Brien, while also providing a tall target in Adelaide’s youthful forward line.

Tom Lynch is the only forward aged over 23 years of age, with Chayce Jones, Lachlan Murphy, Darcy Fogarty, Tyson Stengle and Ben Davis all 22 or under.

Saturday's clash will be captain Rory Sloane’s 200th at AFL level when he leads his side out onto Adelaide Oval.

Kelly took time to pay tribute to the Club’s revered leader. 

“Over his career, Rory has earned the admiration of those within the club and from across the competition for his desire, determination and commitment to the contest,” Kelly said.

“He is the type of player that everyone loves to have as a teammate, always has your back, supremely courageous and selfless. 

“Off-field he is equally impressive, consistently demonstrating his care for the community, to be able to think of and act in the best interests of others and to live passionately and compassionately. 

“That’s why he is our skipper, a champion on and off the field. We are proud of him and hoping that Saturday is a great day for him and the family.” 

First bounce is scheduled for 4.05pm ACDT. While no fans are permitted to attend the match, it will be broadcast live on Channel 7 Adelaide and Fox Footy.
