Adelaide has a perfect winning record against Greater Western Sydney having won all four matches between the two teams, including a 65-point victory in Round Five this season.

The much-improved Giants have taken some scalps this season, including cross-town rivals the Sydney Swans and Carlton at Spotless Stadium and Brisbane at the Gabba in their first away win.

The Crows can expect a contested game against GWS. The Giants are ranked No.2 in the AFL for stoppages per game and have the highest clearance and tackle differential of any team.

GWS co-captain Callan Ward is No.2 in the League for clearances, while young star Adam Treloar is 11th. Ward also ranks fifth in contested possession.

Two-time All Australian Patrick Dangerfield starred in his last two games against the Giants. He had 28 touches, four goals and three Brownlow Medal votes in round seven last year and 33 possessions and five goals when the two teams met earlier this season.

Veteran Heath Shaw, who will need to overcome a concussion to play on Saturday, generates a lot of attack from Greater Western Sydney’s back half. Shaw is third in the AFL for rebound 50ms (73). Crow Brodie Smith is second (73).

The Giants read the ball well in defence, ranked second in intercept marks.

In-form Crows forward Eddie Betts has kicked 10 goals in his past three games – ranked fifth in the AFL behind Lance Franklin, Jay Schulz, Hayden Ballantyne and Travis Cloke, in this period. Betts is ranked fifth in the League in score assists (24) in 2014.

Saturday’s game will see two of the top-three ranked ruckman (according to Champion Data statistics) Shane Mumford (one) and Sam Jacobs (three) do battle. Jacobs has collected 57 more possessions than any other ruckman this year.

The Crows will be chasing consecutive victories for the first time since April this week.

Adelaide is second in the League for scores from centre clearances.

Tom Lynch holds the records for most Crows goals against GWS. Lynch bagged 10 at Spotless Stadium in Round Seven last season.
