Tom Lynch’s crafty snap from ‘Eddie’s pocket’ at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night has been nominated for the AFL’s Goal of the Year for Round Four.

Lynch returned to action against the Sydney Swans after a week off to welcome his second child, Tayla, to the world in the lead up to Adelaide’s Round Three win over Richmond.

The 25-year-old didn’t miss a beat in his comeback game on Saturday however, collecting 21 possessions, six marks and slotting three goals in the 10-point win over the Swans.

Lynch’s final goal of the game was one to savour near the old Adelaide Oval scoreboard.

The hard-working forward first competed in the air to bring the ball to ground, before accepting a Wayne Milera handball while running towards the boundary line midway through the final quarter.

Without even looking at his target and with pressure coming quickly from behind, Lynch snapped an incredible goal to help Adelaide reclaim the lead during the tense final term.

Lynch even joked after the game that the goal was a total fluke, but there was undoubtedly a lot of skill involved in the sizzling snap.

He’s the second Crow to be nominated this season for the Goal of the Year crown. Captain Taylor Walker was among the Round Two nominees, but unfortunately did not progress beyond the weekly vote.

Brisbane’s Pearce Hanley and Richmond youngster Daniel Rioli are the other nominees for the AFL’s Goal of the Year for Round Four.

Voting opens at 12pm (EST) each round the day after the last game, and closes the night before commencement of the next round at 11.59pm (EST).
