The 2015 SANFL season begins on Thursday night with the first of two matches to be held over the Easter long weekend.
Reigning premiers Norwood host Sturt at Coopers Stadium on Thursday from 7.40pm in a rematch of last year’s qualifying final. Recent encounters between the two sides have been closely fought, and another entertaining contest could be on the cards with both sides expected to be finals contenders once again this season. Radio station 5RPH will broadcast the match.
Last year’s wooden spooners Glenelg welcome South Adelaide to Gliderol Stadium for Good Friday football at 3.10pm. The Panthers will be eager to build on a promising 2014 campaign, while the Tigers will hope the addition of several new recruits will see their fortunes change this year. The clash will be telecast live on Channel Seven.
Adelaide plays its second trial game against West Adelaide at Richmond Oval on Saturday from 10am following a victory over Port Adelaide in the side’s first hit-out of the year. Fans receive free entry to the match, with the SANFL squad to be released first on afc.com.au at 6pm on Thursday.
