The beautiful memorial to Phil Walsh outside the Adelaide Football Club administration building at West Lakes will be carefully removed by Crows staff on Monday.
The memorial started with a single bouquet of flowers, and quickly grew as fans visited to the Club’s training base to pay their respects to the late Senior Coach. Fans of rival clubs joined Crows fans and members of the general public in placing thousands of items, including cards, jumpers, scarves and children’s drawings at the site.
Another tribute to Walsh started at Adelaide Oval. These items were eventually taken to West Lakes and added to the memorial at the Club's headquarters. The large and touching memorial typifies the overwhelming support shown towards the Walsh family and Club.
The notes, cards and drawings will be individually photographed, as will the jumpers, scarves, signs, hats and soft toys prior to being carefully stored. A photographic record will then be produced for the Walsh family, while another will be kept at the Club. Flowers will be mulched with the view to using the mulch when planting a memorial tree at a later date.
The Adelaide Football Club would again like to thank the community for its unbelievable support.
