Will Young had his best game of the season for Norwood in Sunday’s SANFL qualifying final.
Young, who made his AFL debut last year but this year has battled a series of injuries and struggled to break back into Norwood’s league side, had 24 possessions and 16 marks in a strong defensive performance.
Jared Petrenko’s brilliance was not enough to lift the Eagles, who slumped to a 61-point loss and now face South Adelaide in a knock-out final next Sunday.
Petrenko, mainly used on a wing, had 28 possessions but is unlikely to be available for the rest of the finals because of a sore groin. Luke Thompson copped a corked thigh early in the game and finished with eight possessions.
The season is over for Glenelg’s Sam Shaw and James Sellar after the Tigers lost the elimination final to South. Shaw was solid in defence, picking up 14 possessions, and Sellar had 15 possessions.
