Eleven Crows in Round 13 SANFL
Eleven Crows-listed players – all aged 20 or under – were involved in SANFL games on the weekend.
Rory Sloane (eight kicks, ten handballs) played his best league game for North Adelaide. He lined-up in defence and played strong football against a variety of opponents, also taking a couple of contested marks.
Tony Armstrong (10 kicks, eight handballs) started brilliantly in the first term at half-back but had less of an impact in the second half. Phil Davis (five kicks, seven handballs) was steady in the first half at centre half-back but like many of his team-mates dropped off after the break as the Port Magpies took control.
Rookie Ricky Henderson made a bright start for Central District before the football was kicked into his nose at close range. He returned to the field and finished with 15 possessions, eight marks and a goal.
Shaun McKernan was competitive for the Panthers in the ruck. The 18-year-old dominated at times in the centre square and finished with 11 possessions and 17 hit-outs. Myke Cook (eight kicks, eight handballs) was busy early in the game and also finished strongly.
James Sellar played another solid game for Glenelg in its win over the Eagles at Woodville on Sunday. He had 11 possessions and 19 hit-outs. He missed a couple of shots on goal but played with confidence in the ruck.
For the Eagles, Jared Petrenko (four kicks, eight handballs) had a mixed day. He started well at half-forward and kicked a long goal in the first term but then fell out of the game and had a stint in a tagging role before going to half-back.
Will Young (11 kicks, seven marks, five handballs, six spoils) again impressed for Norwood on Saturday. He adjusted his game to suit his bigger opponent and won some good one-on-one contests.
Aaron Kite was a late call-up to Norwood’s league side. He had eight kicks and nine handballs on a wing.
SANFL reserves
Brian Donnelly, watched live for the first time in Australia by his Irish parents, struggled with his timing in the windy conditions. He had six possessions, with three of his handballs resulting in goals for Glenelg.
