It was a big weekend in the sporting sphere for a couple of Crows Ambassadors.

V8 driver Nick Percat overcame treacherous conditions to win his home-town race, Clipsal 500.

Extreme heat gave way to severe thunderstorms just prior to the start of 250-kilometre race around Adelaide’s street circuit, prompting safety cars and even a race suspension towards the finish.

Percat handled the slippery track better than the rest, giving Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport its first win in its seven-year history. The win was the first by a local at the Clipsal 500.

"This is unbelievable," the 27-year-old said.

"I've watched this since I was in a pram. Everyone wants to win the Clipsal 500 ... it's a feeling I'll never forget."

Percat and fellow South Aussie and Crows Ambassador Tim Slade visited the Club last week, and also hosted forward Charlie Cameron and several Adelaide coaches in the pits.

Further from home, golfer Adam Scott secured back-to-back PGA Tour wins, taking out the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship in Miami.

Scott fell to six shots off the lead after two double bogeys in his opening five holes in the final round, but recovered with a run of six birdies in nine holes set up a final round three-under-69, leaving him one shot clear of American Bubba Watson (68).

“I really can’t believe I’ve won back-to-back weeks, but to win a world golf championship is huge again and I’ve just got to keep pushing hard for the next couple of weeks,” Scott said.

The win will lift the former World No.1 from No.9 to No.6 in the rankings as he prepares to seek a second Masters green jacket at Augusta National next month.

An avid Crows fan, Scott has been an Ambassador for the Club since 2004.

No.1 ticket holder, Lleyton Hewitt, staged a brief comeback in a bid to help Australia overcome the United States in the Davis Cup tie at Kooyong.

However, the US took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the World Group first-round clash after Bernard Tomic lost to John Isner on Sunday. On Saturday, Hewitt and compatriot John Peers were narrowly defeated by American doubles greats Mike and Bob Bryan in five sets.
