Adelaide forward Mitch McGovern is tipped by his peers to have a big season.
The athletic 23-year-old has been voted the inside the top three players most likely to have a breakout 2018, behind Carlton’s Charlie Curnow and Greater Western Sydney midfielder Jacob Hopper.
McGovern scored 11 per cent of the votes, with Curnow garnering 22 per cent and Hooper 13 percent.
Brisbane Lions’ key position players Eric Hipwood and Harris Andrews rounded out the top five.
The results are part of the Players' Top 50 poll, which has been conducted annually for the past five years.
McGovern, from North Albany in Western Australia, was recruited with pick No.43 in the 2014 AFL National Draft.
He made his debut in 2016, playing 23 matches and booting 32 goals and finishing third at the Club for contested marks behind Taylor Walker and Josh Jenkins.
McGovern’s 2017 campaign was interrupted by hamstring injuries, but he managed to kick 20 goals in his 13 games.
He equalled his career-high of four goals in two games, including a memorable game against Collingwood in Round 19 where he took a strong contested mark and goaled after the siren to draw the game.
