For several months after a horrific car accident, Lauren Holloway didn’t recognise her own parents.

But through the heavy fog of post traumatic amnesia after suffering a severe brain injury and emerging from a coma, her ability to answer a question about who wore No 5 for the Adelaide Crows was enough to offer her family hope of a strong recovery.

This week, three years after the crash, Lauren’s #CrowsWish came true when she met her favourite Crow Scott Thompson, other players, CEO Andrew Fagan and senior coach Don Pyke after watching a training session at Adelaide Oval.

“This is very important to her,” said Lauren’s mother Sandy, “not just something that is exciting but it means the world, to her it really does.

“It’s been her tenacity, determination and courage that has got her through.

“She had to relearn how to eat, drink, swallow, walk, talk. Lauren didn’t know who her family where, she wasn’t really sure where she was or what was happening.

“And we’d say ‘who is your favourite Crows player’ and it was always Scott Thompson immediately! So she didn’t know who her mum or dad was but she certainly knew who Scott Thompson was.

“And the same, if we asked ‘what team do you support Lauren?’ she’d say Adelaide Crows straight away. She didn’t even know her own name.

“She’s done so well, it’s been a really hard long road to recovery. She’s got a long way to go now but she has worked really hard for this.”

Thompson presented Lauren with a No 5 Crows guernsey on Wednesday and the family will also have seats at Saturday night’s game against Sydney, his 250^th game for the Club.
