The Adelaide Football Club welcomes news that a South Australian team is likely to feature in next year's inaugural AFL women's competition.

Crows Chief Executive Officer Andrew Fagan made the following statement:

"A football loving State like ours should be represented and we will continue to push hard to ensure a Crows team is participating.

"Our club alongside the AFLNT is well advanced in its planning to ensure we have the infrastructure, funding, systems and personnel in place to not just support a competitive Crows team in the inaugural season, but to also support the development and promotion of pathways and opportunities for aspiring female footballers to pursue their aspirations to play our great game.

"We are pleased to have the likes of high performance expert and ANZ Championship-winning coach Jane Woodlands-Thompson involved in plotting our path forward along with South Australian football identity Narelle Smith.

"Our recent talent trials have also attracted a large number of athletes and unearthed fresh talent eager to be part of this exciting new phase in our game. Our formal partnership with AFLNT allows us to support the aspiring footballers of the Northern Territory to realise their potential, as well as further strengthening the team's supporting structures and competitiveness.

"This is all supported by our growing Women of Adelaide programs and related female engagement initiatives, which continue to raise the profile and importance of gender diversity in our sport. 

"We are buoyed by our informal discussions with the AFL and look forward to tabling a compelling proposal when the tender process commences in coming weeks".
