Crows forwards Eddie Betts and Taylor Walker dominated the coaches’ votes at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
Betts starred on the Indigenous Round stage kicking five goals against Greater Western Sydney, including two Goal of the Year nominees.
The Adelaide livewire also generated five inside 50ms and won three clearances from his 15 possessions. The performance earned him nine votes from Don Pyke and Leon Cameron.
Walker, who bagged five goals for the second week in a row, received eight votes. The Crows skipper amassed 18 disposals and a game-high 10 marks.
Another Adelaide forward, Charlie Cameron, was awarded four votes from the coaches. Cameron finished with 19 possessions, five clearances, five inside 50ms and was involved in more scores than any other player on the ground.
Emerging Giants midfielder Josh Kelly also attracted four votes for his 28 possession and one goal display. Kelly was the only GWS player to feature in the voting.
Line-breaking Crows Brodie Smith and Rory Atkins each earned two votes.
Smith (754) and Atkins (733) ranked No.1 and No.2 in the AFL for metres gained in Round 10.
Atkins topped Adelaide’s possession tally against GWS with a career-high 28, including 11 in the final quarter. Atkins also took eight marks and drove the ball inside forward 50m seven times.
Smith, who racked up 26 touches, ranked No.1 in the League for combined inside and rebound 50ms on the weekend. Smith generated nine rebound 50ms– double that of the next-best Crow – and also sent the ball inside attacking 50m a game and equal-round high eight times.
Full back Daniel Talia, who held star Giants forward Jeremy Cameron to one goal, rounded out the voting (one). Talia also won more possessions than his opponent (20 - 14) and took seven marks.
Only five players earned maximum votes in Round 10: Hawthorn’s milestone man Jordan Lewis, Richmond star Dustin Martin, Bryce Gibbs of Carlton, acting-Western Bulldogs captain Easton Wood and West Coast midfielder Luke Shuey.
Nine votes was enough to lift Sydney Swans onballer Dan Hannebery to the top of the leaderboard in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.
Hannebery (49) is two votes clear of North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein. Rory Sloane, who is sixth overall with 38 votes, is Adelaide’s highest-ranked player, but Betts (32) is closing fast.
