In a pre-finals boost, Adelaide has secured the signature of exciting forward Mitch McGovern.
McGovern has inked a new three-year deal, tying him to the Crows until the end of 2020.
One of the most promising young players in the competition, McGovern has kicked 51 goals in 35 AFL games.
The 22-year-old showcased his abilities against Collingwood at the MCG in Round 18.
He kicked an equal-career high four goals including a clutch shot after the final siren to secure a thrilling draw for Adelaide.
The high-leaping forward secured the kick after taking a strong contested grab, which earned him a third Mark of the Year nomination for the season.
McGovern said he firmly believed the Adelaide Football Club was the best place for him to be.
“I love the playing group I’m playing with, but also the staff and everyone involved,” he said.
“The culture is fantastic here. It’s one of the best-run clubs that I can see and I’m glad to be a part of it.
“I’m pretty excited for the future ahead.”
General Manager of List Management and Strategy Justin Reid was rapt McGovern had committed to the Crows.
“We’re thrilled that Mitch wants to be part of the environment we’ve created at the Club,” Reid said.
“He plays an important role within our exciting forward line and is a player we think has enormous upside.
“Mitch is part of a core group of players to commit to the Club and we’re excited for the future together.”
Recruited with pick No.43 in the 2014 National Draft, McGovern made his debut in Round One, 2016.
The versatile and athletic Western Australian quickly cemented his spot in the League’s highest-scoring forward line, playing 23 of a possible 24 games and kicking 32 goals to finish fifth in the Club’s goalkicking.
