Crows fans will have the opportunity to farewell Club great Scott Thompson at Adelaide’s Preliminary Final clash with Geelong.
Thompson will be recognised with a lap of honour during the half-time break of Friday night’s final at Adelaide Oval.
The two-time Club Champion is set to retire from the sport at season’s end. This week’s match will mark his final appearance in front of the Adelaide Oval faithful.
He remains one of Adelaide’s most popular figures in an AFL career spanning 308 games and 17 seasons.
Thompson was originally drafted by Melbourne with pick No.16 at the 2000 National Draft before joining the Crows ahead of Season 2005.
The tough midfielder developed into one of the key cogs in Adelaide’s midfield over the next decade.
Along with back-to-back Malcolm Blight Medals (2011, 2012), Thompson earned All Australian selection in 2012 and placed third in the Brownlow Medal count in the same season.
He claimed the Chelsea Phillis Coaches’ Award and the 19th Man Award in 2011. Thompson also won the coveted Phil Walsh Medal as best afield in Showdown XXXIX.
Thompson was awarded Crows Life Membership in 2014 and holds several Club records, leading Adelaide’s all-time tally in disposals (6,752), tackles (1,313), clearances (1,338), contested possessions (2,817) and Brownlow Medal votes (152).
