Adelaide has named a 30-man squad for its AFL AAMI Community Series match against Brisbane at Brighton Homes Arena on Thursday night.
Recruit Isaac Cumming is included in the line-up, with the former GWS utility set to feature in his first match for the Crows against an opposition.
Adelaide will receive an added boost with star forward Izak Rankine returning, after missing last week’s match simulation against Port Adelaide, while first-year player Sid Draper has also been named.
Adelaide Head of Football Adam Kelly said it was pleasing to have four of the Club’s new additions playing, with Cumming, Draper, James Peatling and Alex Neal-Bullen named.
“Our additions have connected well with the group and they are building cohesion with their teammates, which will be enhanced with every game they play,” Kelly said.
“Each are showing the on-field strengths that caught our attention, and additionally, they are impacting the group with their appetite to work hard, their positivity, care for their teammates and drive to get better.”
The match against the Lions will also give fans a glimpse of a new-look midfield mix.
“We have been looking to add to and adjust our midfield mix over recent years and in 2025 there will certainly be a different dynamic in there,” Kelly said.
“Using this week’s lineup as an example, we have Dawson, Rankine, Crouch, Soligo, Peatling and Draper, which is a group that compliment one another’s strengths. We have had this group working together in the midfield all summer and have been pleased with what we have seen.”
Defenders Wayne Milera (quad) and Max Michalanney (thumb), as well as forward Josh Rachele (corked thigh) will miss Adelaide’s final practice match.
“Wayne and Josh are experiencing minor ailments and with an abundance of caution we have decided not to play them this week,” Kelly said.
“Max is progressing well from his dislocated thumb and on track to be available for selection in Round One.
“We have a strong squad that we are taking to Brisbane for our final rehearsal before the season proper.
“Playing against last year's Premiers is a great opportunity for us to get feedback on our preparation and readiness for Round One, and to be able to test and refine elements of our game that have been a focus across the pre-season.”
Billy Dowling, Sam Berry, James Borlase and Oscar Ryan are the emergencies.
