Adelaide midfielder Brad Crouch has undergone surgery to repair a fractured cheekbone.
Crouch, 23, sustained the injury in a collision late in the third quarter against Geelong on Friday night.
He was able to play out the game, but an operation was required to correct the damage.
Crows General Manager High Performance Matt Hass said the Club would consult specialists before determining Crouch’s availability for this week.
“He’s had surgery this (Tuesday) morning,” Hass said.
“All went successfully and we will discuss our options with the surgeon and make an assessment on his availability going forward.”
Forward Eddie Betts has returned home after surgery to remove his appendix and is recovering well.
Hass said the Club was hopeful about Betts’ availability for Round 20.
“Obviously, he won’t play this weekend, but we’re hopeful he will be available for the following week for the Showdown.”
Defender Kyle Hartigan and midfielder Wayne Milera Junior are set to return to playing if they can complete Thursday’s main training session.
Hartigan injured his hamstring against Carlton at the MCG in Round 15, while Milera has missed a fortnight because of a calf complaint.
Jake Lever, who was ruled out of last week’s win over Geelong with a hamstring injury, is another possible inclusion for Sunday’s clash with Collingwood.
“He (Jake) still has a few more boxes to tick this week and he will be a test for this weekend.”
Young ruckman Reilly O’Brien continues to be assessed for an ongoing back injury.
Onballer Curtly Hampton is still aiming to return before season’s end as he recovers from ankle surgery.
