Collingwood pair Darcy Moore (neck) and Travis Varcoe (dislocated elbow/concussion) are both expected to miss Sunday’s clash with Adelaide after being hospitalised during their side’s Round 18 win over West Coast.
“I would suspect, given the severity of the knock, that he (Moore) would miss this week but other than that, we should be looking at a return to play soon after that,” Collingwood Head of Football Geoff Walsh told the club’s website.
“The best-case scenario (for Varcoe) is that he may only miss this week and then be up and about.”
Captain Scott Pendlebury has undergone surgery on Monday night to rectify a complication with an already broken finger.
Pendlebury missed his first AFL match in almost three years last weekend, but the Magpies are still hopeful of him returning to the field prior to the end of the season.
The five-time All Australian won’t face the Crows this Sunday.
“He had to have some surgery on Monday to put that little piece of fracture back in place,” Walsh said.
“That’s a further complication and now we’re looking at multiple weeks for Scott.”
