One game into his Adelaide career and Bryce Gibbs is already marvelling at Matt Crouch's ability to get his hands on the Sherrin.
Crouch carried on his tremendous form of last year with 36 possessions in the Crows' 10-point win against Fremantle in the JLT Community Series game at Strathalbyn Oval on Sunday.
The 22-year-old averaged 33 disposals a game and was an All Australian and club champion for the first time.
"Halfway through the second quarter when I was on the bench, I turned to Pykey (coach Don Pyke) and said, 'Geez, Matty Crouch can find the ball'," Gibbs said.
"I already knew he could do that, but sitting here and playing here and watching him, he's impressive.
"I'm certainly looking forward to playing a lot of games with him."
Former Blue Gibbs wasn't half bad himself, racking up 28 disposals and booting a brilliant snap goal from the pocket.
The 28-year-old's class, vision and elite ball use were on display and adds another dimension to the Crows' midfield.
Gibbs intends to play in Saturday's intraclub hit-out and the JLT game against Port Adelaide on March 10.
"Chemistry is huge for me," he said.
"I want to get to a level where I know my teammates back to front, inside out, so in the heat of the moment, you know what we're going to do and we're all on the same page and it can just flow.
"These games are super important to get that."
Rory Sloane, Brad Crouch, Richard Douglas and Hugh Greenwood need to be added to the Crows' midfield after sitting out the win over the Dockers.
"We've got some big names to come back and I've enjoyed training with them and can't wait to play with them over the next couple of weeks," he said.
Gibbs got the ideal start to his new club when former Blues teammate Sam Jacobs delivered a tap down his throat from the centre bounce.
After 11 seasons and 231 games with the Blues, Gibbs admits he's still getting used to his new look.
"I won't lie, it's a little bit weird still in a little bit different colours," he said.
"There's still a little bit of navy blue on there so it's not completely foreign.
"It doesn't matter what colours I'm wearing, I'm a Crow now and it's very exciting."
Gibbs will also have a new look above the shoulders, shaving off his trademark man bun for charity.
