The successful South Australian Aboriginal Sports Training Academy (SAASTA) program, run in partnership with the McLeod Centre of Excellence and the Adelaide Football Club, will culminate in the SAASTA Shield Cup in November.
Over 250 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students have participated in the unique pilot program, which incorporates AFL Combine
The introduction of AFLX to students is a first in Australia, with Andrew McLeod and his McLeod Centre of Excellence team guiding the students through all of the elements.
A two-day carnival will begin on Thursday, November 22, where students will compete across AFLX, 3 on 3 basketball and cricket in the hope of earning points towards the SAASTA Shield.
Students will also have the opportunity to get behind the Adelaide Bite, with all participants attending their home game on Thursday, November 22.
The baseball team was recently acquired by the Adelaide Football Club.
