Three aspiring AFL draftees will get an insight into what it takes to be an elite player when they train alongside the Crows this summer.

South Australian prospects, from the local NAB AFL Academy Hub, Will Gould (Glenelg), Karl Finlay (North Adelaide) and Dylan Stephens (Norwood) will join Adelaide as part of the AFL Academy’s placement program.

Gould played three games for Glenelg reserves and four games for SA as a bottom-ager at the Under-18 championships in 2018.

After averaging 15 disposals, 4.5 marks and 4.3 rebound 50s per game, the 17-year-old was named on the interchange in the Under 18 All Australian side.

Hailing from Lucindale, the hometown of Darcy Fogarty, Gould was a boarder at Prince Alfred College until he graduated this year.

“Will’s 191/192cm and has played primarily as a forward but has also spent time in the backline in the last 12 months,” Crows Western Recruiting Manager Scott Degabriele told AFC Media.

“He’s strong, tough and very competitive with a great kick and a solid mark.

“He’s just a good country kid too.”

Finlay, a 197cm key defender, played eight games for North Adelaide in the SANFL Under-18’s Torrens University Cup in 2018.

“Karl is very defense minded and is competitive in the air with a strong mark,” Degabriele said.

Stephens also played in the Torrens University Cup this season, booting 13 goals across his eight games for Norwood.

“Dylan’s a speedy left-footer with elite endurance… he’s a reasonably versatile player but primarily plays as a midfielder,” Degabriele said.
