Adelaide midfielder Rory Sloane says he hasn’t made a decision on his playing future in response to recent media speculation.
Sloane, 27, is entering the last season of his current deal with the Crows.
The All Australian and two-time Club Champion said he had a lot of factors to consider, but that he’d been in constant communication with the Crows.
“Things always get said in the media and if you listen to everything (as if) it's true then it would do your head in in the end," Sloane told Triple M on Wednesday.
"It's always tricky to speak about it because no matter what you say – and we found out late last year when I was completely unprepared and hadn't actually given it much thought – people always take things out of context, it always gets skewed a different way.
"I'm very happy with where I'm at the moment. The Club is very aware of where I'm at. I've been chatting to them, absolutely (I) have been.
"Like anyone else that has a job, you're thinking about work commitments … (but) there is other stuff to consider.
"There is a person away from football as well, there is a Rory Sloane away from football that I also do think about and so you do need some thought.
"It's not just a simple process to tick off.
“That's 100 per cent honest from myself, that's as honest as I can be."
While Sloane understands the conjecture around his playing future, he’s directing all his energy towards getting the most out of himself and his teammates for the remainder of the pre-season leading into Round One.
The 165-game veteran sat out the opening round of the JLT Community Series, but is expected to participate in Saturday’s intra-club match and the Club’s final pre-season hit-out against Port Adelaide at Alberton Oval
“As I’ve said plenty of times, this season is going to be so important to our footy Club,” he said.
“We’ve got a group of men that are so committed to each other that we want to get better.
“My focus has always been on the Adelaide Football Club and this team, because, again, we want to improve on last year.
“I promise the Adelaide fans that when there’s something to report on, you’ll be the first to know.”
On Wednesday, Sloane was reappointed as vice-captain of the Crows as part of a four-person leadership group.
Taylor Walker will remain as captain, with forward Tom Lynch and young midfielder Matt Crouch making up the other half of the group.
“It’s very nice to get that recognition again, especially from our peers,” Sloane said.
“We’ve got around 20 other blokes that fit into a couple of different groups that look after our trademark and the things that encompass that.
“The actual weight of the leadership group has probably reduced a little bit, so we can focus a bit more on the important things (like) the game, trends of the game.”
