Adelaide youngster Chayce Jones is using his time in the SANFL to hone his “weapons” and push for an AFL recall.
The 19-year-old has contributed to a run of five straight wins in the State League, perfecting what he deems his best attributes: run and carry, speed and pressure.
“I need to make sure that when I get the opportunity to run and carry that I take it – use my speed and deliver on my skills,” Jones told AFC Media.
“I am bringing my weapons and trying to do what my role is, to show that I am capable of it at AFL level.”
The midfielder is averaging 21 disposals, five clearances, five tackles and four inside 50s a game in the reserves - all with an eye on senior selection.

Jones has played six AFL games this season and has drawn from that experience to ignite his form.
“It was an amazing experience, to play in the first game,” he said.
“The first feeling when you run out was unreal, the crowd goes off.
“It was bananas, I got goosebumps running out and looking at the crowd.”

The Club’s faith in Jones was recognised when he signed a three-year contract extension, keeping him in Adelaide until at least the end of 2023.
Jones said he “jumped at the opportunity” to re-sign.
“It shows that I am doing the right things, the confidence the Club has in me is really amazing," Jones said.
“The coaches said to keep working hard and the reward will come.”
Despite being young and away from his home state of Tasmania, Jones had no hesitation about staying in South Australia.
“I love Adelaide, it reminds me of home and is a great city,” he said.
“My mum is from Adelaide, so it was good to get over here and see some of the places that she grew up around.
“I really enjoy living here.”
