It’s unfamiliar territory for Adelaide, but coach Don Pyke says the decision to play two ruckmen on Saturday afternoon came down to combating the impact of Collingwood’s Brodie Grundy.
Sam Jacobs and Reilly O’Brien will share minutes between ruck and resting forward, marking the first time Pyke has played a ruck tandem in his coaching career.
"It's something we haven't done in the past, but we recognise Grundy and his influence on the game," Pyke said.
“Playing two rucks has been on the radar for a while and we’ve got two guys in strong form so we thought it was the right blend and mix for it.”
Jacobs will play his 200th AFL game against the Magpies after returning from an extended spell in the SANFL for game No.199 last week.

“He was like a kid in the candy store coming back last week,” Pyke said.
“He’s a much loved character of the footy club.
“He’s an outstanding player, his capacity as a tap ruckman and his connection work has been outstanding across his career.”
The 31-year-old won’t be the only milestone man for the Crows with wingman Paul Seedsman returning to the side to play his 100th game against his former Club.

He replaces Rory Atkins, who is set to play SANFL for the first time this year.
“Seed went out of the team a few weeks ago but unfortunately couldn’t play because we had a bye in the SANFL,” Pyke said.
“He played SANFL last week and we saw more of the things we were looking for from Paul.
“Rory’s been solid but not as consistent as we want - his form’s been okay without being stellar so Paul comes back in.”
Defender Alex Keath will join Atkins in the reserves as he returns from an ankle injury that has kept him on the sidelines for the past three weeks.
"It's always hard to tell with the bone-stress stuff," Pyke said.
"We've had the same with Cam Ellis-Yolmen.
"You manage that on the basis of how they recover and sometimes you have to deload them for a period of time before you can get them going again.
"Hopefully (Keath) gets a full game under his belt, plays well and he's ready to go for the following week."
Adelaide will host last year’s grand finalists at Adelaide Oval on Saturday from 4.05pm ACST.
