Coach Brenton Sanderson has promised "almost every player" on Adelaide's list will receive an opportunity during the NAB Cup.
Here's a quick guide to the Club's new and less-experienced players to help bring you up to speed ahead of Saturday's trial at AAMI Stadium.
*Players with 10 or fewer games of AFL experience
No.2 Brad Crouch
DOB: 14/1/94
185cm, 84kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: North Ballarat/Beaufort
Draft history: Greater Western Sydney 17-year-old trade incentive, 2011
BIO: Crouch joined the Crows via the 17-year-old 'mini-draft' in October, 2011, but because he didn't turn 18 before the December 31 cut-off was ineligible for AFL selection last season. Fans got a glimpse of the highly-rated midfielder in Adelaide's 2012 NAB Cup clash with Brisbane, but he spent the rest of the season playing with SANFL club, West Adelaide. The skilful onballer starred in the Bloods preliminary final win over North Adelaide, amassing 31 possessions and a goal. Crouch has improved his strength and aerobic fitness over the summer, and will be determined to book a spot in the round one team with a strong NAB Cup campaign.
No.8 Lewis Johnston
DOB: 3/3/91
193cm, 91kg
AFL debut: (For Sydney) Round 10, 2011, v North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium
AFL games: Three (One for Adelaide, two for Sydney Swans)
Recruited from: Port Pirie/North Adelaide
Draft history: Selection No.12 in the 2008 AFL National Draft, traded to Adelaide at the end of 2011
BIO: Johnston was limited to only game in his first season at Adelaide, against Fremantle in round 20, but was a solid performer for North Adelaide. The long-kicking forward booted 52 goals (ranked third in the SANFL) from 19 matches. A beautiful long kick, Johnston showed off his accuracy, kicking only 14 behinds for the year (79 per cent accuracy). He was tried as a defender last pre-season, but has returned to attack and, like Josh Jenkins, Shaun McKernan and Tom Lynch, will be looking for greater opportunities.
No.16 Luke Brown
DOB: 22/9/92
181cm, 79kg
AFL debut: Round 16, 2012, v GWS at Skoda Stadium
AFL games: Three
Recruited from: Tea Tree Gully/Norwood
Draft history: 2011 AFL National Draft traded by GWS for its zone incentive selection (No.2 Brad Crouch) and No.10 and 2011 round one compensation pick (Phil Davis)
BIO: Part of the deal that also saw Crouch land at West Lakes, Brown played three games in his debut AFL season and was also a valuable member of Norwood's premiership team. The skilful utility will compete with the likes of Matthew Jaensch and Richard Tambling for the vacant spot in the Crows defence, but also has the potential to play as a midfielder. Starred in February's intra-club trial.
No.20 Sam Siggins
DOB: 20/3/94
195cm, 85kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: Lauderdale (Tas)
Draft history: Selection No.62 in the 2012 AFL National Draft
BIO: Adelaide's first pick in last year's national draft, Siggins arrived at West Lakes with a great enthusiasm and work ethic and could be rewarded with a NAB Cup debut. The key defender, who can play on both talls and smalls, has impressed in the Club's pre-season endurance testing, but will concentrate on adding muscle to his frame in his first couple of years in the system. Siggins is aligned to SANFL club, North Adelaide.
No.21 Rory Atkins
DOB: 12/7/94
184cm, 80kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: Maribrynong Park/Calder Cannons
Draft history: Selection No.81 in the 2012 AFL National Draft
BIO: Rory 'The Rat' Atkins was selected with Adelaide's second and final live pick in last year's national draft. A skilful left-footer, Atkins can play as either a goalkicking midfielder or small forward. A former member of the AIS-AFL Academy and Calder Cannons best and fairest winner, Atkins is an exciting long-term prospect and gave the Crows coaching staff a glimpse of his capabilities with an impressive performance in the Club's intra-club match. He's aligned to Sturt in the SANFL.
No.28 Cam Ellis-Yolmen
DOB: 28/1/93
188cm, 89kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: Flinders Park/Woodville-West Torrens
Draft history: Selection No.64 in the 2011 AFL National Draft
BIO: Ellis-Yolmen made an impressive league debut for Woodville-West Torrens last season and has showed significant improvement over the summer. Affectionately known as 'Curly', the athletic teenager has the physical attributes to play as a third tall at either end of the ground and also as a midfielder. He's recorded personal bests on the track and in the gym this pre-season and has his sights set on a NAB Cup debut.
No.29 Sam Kerridge
DOB: 26/4/93
188cm, 86kg
AFL debut: Round three, 2012, v Hawthorn at the MCG
AFL games: One
Recruited from: Mildura/Bendigo Pioneers
Draft history: Selection No.27 in the 2011 AFL National Draft
BIO: Kerridge arrived at Adelaide with a physique ready for AFL football. He was limited to one game (against Hawthorn in round three) in his first season at the Club, but finished fourth in Sturt's best and fairest award in debut year of senior football. The goalkicking midfielder is regarded as one of the best all-round athletes at West Lakes, finishing near the front in the endurance testing and bench-pressing 130kg by the end of the pre-season. Like Crouch, Kerridge should come under serious consideration for a regular spot in the team this year.
No.30 Jack Osborn (rookie)
DOB: 29/4/90
205cm, 105kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: North Hobart (Tas)
Draft history: Alternate sports signing, October 2012
BIO: One of three former basketballers on the Club's 'category B' rookie list. Osborn has returned from a four-year stint with US College Adams State. The 205cm aspiring ruckman has an impressive vertical leap for his size and played football in his native Tasmania up until the age of 17. Because of his background, Osborn is considered a project player at Adelaide and will continue to develop his game at SANFL club, Central District, this year.
No.31 Jarryd Lyons
DOB: 22/7/92
184cm, 82kg
AFL debut: Round five, 2012, v Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium
AFL games: Three
Recruited from: St Peters (VMFL)/Sandringham Dragons
Draft history: Selection No.61 in the 2010 AFL National Draft
BIO: Lyons was desperately unlucky not to receive more opportunities in his second season with the Crows. The inside midfielder started as a substitute in two of his three games, gathering a career-high 14 possessions on debut against Port Adelaide in round five. Despite only playing 13 games for SANFL club Glenelg, Lyons ranked 13th in the League for disposals (among players who played more than five games) at an average of 22 per game. He also showcased his biggest strength - his stoppage work - ranking sixth in the competition for clearances. After three AFL pre-seasons, Lyons is physically ready for a breakout season and will also be looking to cement a spot in the NAB Cup.
No.38 Mitch Grigg
DOB: 2/1/93
182cm, 82kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: Athelstone/Norwood
Draft history: Selection No.41 in the 2011 AFL National Draft
BIO: Grigg split his time between Norwood's reserve and league teams last season. The neat-kicking left-footer was called up to the seniors for six games late in the year, but was disappointingly left out of the Grand Final team. A strong endurance runner, the 2011 SA Under-18 MVP has impressed the Crows coaches with his approach to training this pre-season and will be keen to show he can play at the level during the NAB Cup.
No.39 Tim Klaosen (rookie)
DOB: 22/11/89
197cm, 87kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: Goodwood Saints/Sturt Sabres Basketball Club
Draft history: Alternate talent signing, 2011
BIO: A former Sturt basketballer, Klaosen arrived at Adelaide with a limited football background. He is one of the best endurance athletes at the Club, and has excellent speed and agility for his height. Klaosen will focus on adding muscle and developing his game knowledge in his first season in the system, but has the makings of a versatile key defender. He's aligned to Glenelg in the local league.
No.41 Kyle Hartigan (rookie)
DOB: 7/11/91
194cm, 92kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: Keilor/Western Jets/ Werribee
Draft history: Selection No.14 in the 2013 Rookie Draft
BIO: Hartigan was recruited as a ready-made key defender and a longer-term replacement for Ben Rutten at full-back. The 21-year-old played on the best forwards in the VFL last season and was a member of the VFL Academy. The strongly built rookie is already showing the physical benefits of an AFL pre-season and will be looking for an opportunity sooner rather than later. Hartigan is aligned to SANFL club South Adelaide.
No.42 Nick Joyce
DOB: 28/9/93
184cm, 77kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: Crystal Brook/Woodville-West Torrens
Draft history: Selection No.46 in the 2011 AFL Draft, Selection No.10 in the 2013 Pre-season Draft
BIO: Joyce made his senior debut for Woodville-West Torrens last year, and started his second pre-AFL season brightly under trying circumstances. Unfortunately, has been troubled by groin soreness since Christmas and is unlikely to be available for selection until late in the NAB Cup competition.
No.43 Aidan Riley
DOB: 13/12/91
182cm, 86kg
AFL debut: Round 19, 2011, v Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium
AFL games: 10
Recruited from: Wollongong Lions (NSW)
Draft History: NSW Scholarship selection in 2010 Rookie Draft , rookie elevation selection No.89 in the 2011 Rookie Draft
BIO: Another player unfortunate not to play more AFL footy in 2012. Riley, who missed several weeks with a broken hand early in the season, was limited to five games including the Qualifying Final against Sydney. In the three matches where he avoided the green sub's vest, the ferocious midfielder ranked No.1 at the Club in pressure acts per minute and averaged 17 possessions, four clearances, four tackles and two assists. He finished fifth in Sturt's best and fairest award despite playing only 13 games for the year. An exceptional clearance player, Riley has improved his endurance and is putting enormous pressure on the starting Crows midfield.
No.44 Ben Dowdell (rookie) DOB: 27/9/88
200cm, 101kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: Nowra (NSW)/Santa Clara (US College Basketball)
Draft history: Category B rookie signing (alternate talent), 2011
BIO: Dowdell exceeded expectations in his first season at an AFL club, breaking through for three senior games with SANFL club South Adelaide. Has continued to improve over the summer, posting personal bests on the track and in the gym. The basketball convert is still very raw in football terms, but might receive an opportunity in the early rounds of the NAB Cup.
No.46 Rory Laird (rookie)
DOB: 29/12/93
176cm, 76kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: Kenilworth/West Adelaide
Draft history: Selection No.5 in the 2012 Rookie Draft
BIO: The nuggety defender has captured the attention of his coaches and teammates in his second pre-season. Laird made his league debut for West Adelaide in round four last year and went on to play 18 games, averaging 19 possessions and three clearances. Is being groomed as a backman at West Lakes, but ran through the midfield at Westies and racked up plenty of touches in Adelaide's intra-club match. As a rookie, Laird is ineligible for AFL selection until after round 11 - unless the Club places a player on the long-term injury list - so will be keen to make the most of any opportunities in the NAB Cup.
No.48 Dylan Orval (rookie) DOB: 29/7/93
191cm, 80kg
AFL debut: yet to debut
Recruited from: Rowville, Oakleigh Chargers
Draft history: Selection No.23 in the 2012 Rookie Draft
BIO: Orval endured an injury-interrupted first season at West Lakes, but impressed the Club with his approach to rehabilitation. The son for former Collingwood player, Mark, the strong marking forward kicked 16 goals in 10 matches for the Central District reserves and will be looking to build on that performance in his second year on the list.
No.49 Tim McIntyre (rookie)
DOB: 9/4/89
176cm, 79kg
AFL debut: Round 15, 2012, v Port Adelaide
AFL games: One
Recruited from: Murray Bushrangers/Sturt
Draft history: Selection No.41 in the 2012 Rookie Draft
BIO: McIntyre was elevated to the senior list midway through the 2012 season and made his AFL debut against Port Adelaide in round 15. The small forward was limited to only that one match, but was a consistent performer at SANFL club Sturt, kicking 49 goals from 19 games. A strong mark overhead for his size, McIntyre bears similarities to classy goalkicker Jason Porplyzia.
