Jared Petrenko and Sam Shaw are set to return to the playing field next week.
Petrenko was eased into pre-season training after having a shoulder reconstruction in October, while Shaw has been on a modified program since Christmas to manage knee soreness.
Coach Brenton Sanderson said the pair was expected to play their first minutes of 2013 next week.
“Pup (Petrenko) and Shawy are back in full training, and are likely starters next week,” Sanderson said.
“We’re in a fortunate position with injuries. At this stage, only Brodie Smith (collarbone) and Nick Joyce (groin) probably won’t be available to play in round one.”
Smith will miss another seven weeks with a fractured collarbone.
Defenders Daniel Talia (illness) and Richard Tambling (back) were both left out of the squad to take on Geelong, but are likely to be fit to take on Carlton in round three of the NAB Cup at AAMI Stadium next Friday night.
