Adelaide has bolstered its playing list by selecting two skilful South Australians at the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft on Monday night.

The Crows selected India Rasheed with their first selection at Pick No. 13 and Georgia McKee with their second selection at Pick No. 44.

Rasheed is a skilful ball winner who is equally as damaging as a forward or midfielder. The 18-year-old has an excellent left-foot kick and can hit teammates on the lead inside-50 or finish the goal herself.

After an exceptional season with Sturt, Rasheed won the 2024 SANFLW Breakthrough Player Award and finished third in the SANFLW Best and Fairest.

Rasheed was a vice-captain of the SA U18 team this year and is a two-time All-Australian at the under-18 Girls AFLW National Championships. A member of the AFLW Academy, she is the daughter of former Double Blue and international tennis coach Roger Rasheed.

Adelaide Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said the Club was thrilled to secure Rasheed at Pick No. 13.

“Indi is incredibly talented and has an excellent football IQ and work rate to match,” Harper said.

“This year’s draft is the League’s first ever truly national draft and if we had a pick inside the top five, we would have used it on Indi so to get her at Pick 13 is a fantastic result for our footy club.

“We think Indi will have an immediate impact and we can’t wait to see what she can do in an AFLW environment.”

McKee is a dangerous small forward from Central District with excellent finishing skills.

The 18-year-old was selected as an All-Australian as a double-bottom age player at the 2022 under-18 Girls AFLW Championships before sustaining an ACL injury which sidelined her for the entire 2023 season.

McKee returned to the field this year, making her comeback with Central District in the SANFLW and kicking seven goals in three games for South Australia at the 2024 under-18 Girls AFLW Championships.

“We are very excited to welcome Georgia back to West Lakes after she spent time at the Club as part of our Bridgestone Next Generation Academy,” Harper said.

“She is a natural footballer who reads the ball well off hands inside-50 and can kick with both feet.

“She had a bit of an interrupted start to the year while rehabbing her knee, but we are confident she can return to her best and add a different element to our forward line.”
