Adelaide has bolstered its SANFL stocks for the 2025 season by signing former North Melbourne player Blake Drury.
The 20-year-old was the number one pick in the 2022 AFL Rookie Draft and played 10 senior games in his two years with the Kangaroos, including six in 2024.
Drury was delisted from North Melbourne at the end of the 2024 season and has signed with the Club as part of the SANFL’s new list regulations.
The former Vic Metro underage Captain is a versatile, running player who can play across all three parts of the ground.
“Blake is a very talented midfielder and forward who will be a great addition to our squad,” SANFL Head Coach Matthew Wright said.
“He’s a hard worker who has great leadership qualities and a high footballing IQ so we are excited about what he can add to our group.
“He had interest from a number of other AFL and state league clubs around the country, so we’re thrilled he has decided to join our program.”
Before being drafted to North Melbourne as an 18-year-old, Drury played with the Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates Talent League, captained Vic Metro and went to school at Caulfield Grammar with Crow Josh Rachele.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to crack in at the SANFL, Adelaide is a great club with great history and from what I’ve heard, a great bunch of guys,” Drury said.
“I went to school with Josh (Rachele) and we played some school footy together and got on really well with him, so I’m keen to train alongside him again.
“The opportunity to stay in an AFL environment will be great for my development, being a young player that’s really important to me and I think this will help me get the best out of my football.”
