South Australian Football Hall of Fame administrator and former Adelaide Football Club Board Director Wally Miller OAM has died, aged 88.
After more than three decades of extraordinary service to Norwood and the SANFL, Miller spent six years on Adelaide’s Board, starting with the 1997-98 AFL premiership seasons. He was also on the Club’s football operations committee from 1999-2002.
Miller played 64 league games for Norwood from 1958-61 before he was badly injured and then diagnosed with polio, which ended his playing career at age 24. Eventually confined to a wheelchair, he moved into administration with the Redlegs, where he was Secretary Manager/Football Director from 1970-1992 and on the match committee until 1996.
Miller was made a Life Member of Norwood in 1975 and the SANFL in 1986. In 1986 he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for Services to Football and in 2004 he was inducted to the South Australian Football Hall of Fame.

In 2018, Miller was elevated to Legend within the Norwood Hall of Fame and then in 2019 he was awarded Life Membership of the AFL.
Crows Chairman John Olsen said the thoughts of everyone at the Club were with Miller’s family and friends.
“As an administrator, Wally had an immense impact on South Australian football and we are grateful for his service and contribution to the Crows, which occurred during our most successful era,” Olsen said.
