The Adelaide Football Club will honour NBA Champion and Ambassador Patty Mills at its home game against West Coast on Saturday, August 2.
Mills, 25, was part of the San Antonio Spurs team that beat Miami to claim the NBA Championship in June.
The Canberra-born guard is the first Indigenous Australian to win a Championship ring. Mills is also one of only four Australians to be part of a NBA Championship following in the footsteps of Luc Longley and Andrew Gaze. Boomers teammate Aron Baynes was also part of the Championship-winning Spurs squad. Mills played a starring role in the Finals providing a spark off the bench. In game five of the deciding series, the fan favourite scored 17 points in 18 minutes including five three-pointers.
Crows fans will have a chance to congratulate Mills on his historic achievement as he completes a lap of honour before the Round 19 clash with West Coast at Adelaide Oval. The lifelong Crows supporter will also toss the coin and visit the Adelaide change rooms pre-game.
It's been a busy post-season for Mills, who is on the verge of signing a new deal with the Spurs and recently underwent serious shoulder surgery. Mills will arrive in Australia this week in charge of a precious cargo - the Larry O'Brien trophy - to show off his NBA prize on a whirlwind tour. Unfortunately, the trophy has to leave the country before Mills' visit to Adelaide.
Mills has been an Ambassador of the Adelaide Football Club since 2011.
