Adelaide has added three players to its extended squad for the AFLW Preliminary Final against North Melbourne.

The Crows will take on the Kangaroos at IKON Park on Sunday afternoon and have included wing Deni Varnhagen, utility Brooke Tonon and defender Najwa Allen to the squad.

Varnhagen, Tonon and Allen were named as the emergencies for last week’s Semi-Final match against Sydney.

Adelaide Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said competition for spots had been strong this season and that this week was no different.

“Brooke Tonon has played most games this season and has performed well,” Harper said.

“Deni has really stepped up her training in the past month and we feel she is close to being back to her very best.

“(And) Naj, who was not selected in last week’s game, may be better suited against North Melbourne.”

The Crows will announce their final team on Friday at 4.30pm (ACDT), with three players set to drop out of the named line-up.

The match will be Adelaide’s fifth Preliminary Final in the six seasons they have been scheduled, including the cancelled 2020 matches.

The Kangaroos, meanwhile, earned the right to host the Preliminary Final after triumphing in their Qualifying Final against Melbourne a fortnight ago.

“Preliminary finals are big games as they are the path to the Grand Final,” Harper said.

“While we have a reasonable amount of finals experience, we also had nine players in last week’s team who have not played in a Grand Final and are desperate to do so.”

Adelaide plays North Melbourne at IKON Park on Sunday, November 26, at 2.35pm (ACDT).

The winner will play in the 2023 AFLW Grand Final on Sunday, December 3.
