To my Crows family, the most loyal and passionate supporters and Members in the AFL,
Firstly I need to say thank you.
Thank you for all your support.
You have all ridden the ultimate highs and the ultimate lows with me and without you guys, myself nor our Club would be as strong and connected as we are today.
Your support has meant the absolute world to me and my family and I am so excited to be able to don the tri colours again next year, in what will be my 17th season at West Lakes.
The way you all embrace not just me, but also my wife Ellie, and kids, Hugo, Louis and Hattie, is amazing and really makes me so proud because our Club is truly a family Club.
There’s nothing better than kicking a goal at Adelaide Oval and hearing you guys cheer.
When I was drafted to the Crows in November 2007, never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d get to play 50 games, let alone 255 for the best Club in the AFL.
Reaching that 250 milestone this year was such a special moment and I will forever be grateful for being able to share it with all of you.
The roar from the packed Adelaide Oval crowd that day is a sound I’ll always remember.
I always wanted to be a one-club player, but in the world of professional sport, nothing is ever guaranteed, and I’ll never take the opportunities I’ve had for granted.
I remember walking into the Club all those years ago as a young boy just in love with the game of footy and keen to play well.
You guys have helped keep that passion, energy and drive alive in me, and the fire to do this great Club proud still burns in me.
We’ve still got five games left in this season and I couldn’t be prouder of the guys and how far we’ve come. We’ve got some huge challenges ahead of us, starting with Port Adelaide in this weekend’s Showdown, but we need you to continue to stick by us and believe.
I truly believe in this group, the talent we have and the direction we are heading. I’m so keen to continue to be part of what we are building - both for the remainder of this year and for next season.
See you at the footy and Go Crows.
Cheers,
Tex
